Enrichment

At Oasis Academy Bank Leaze, every child has the chance to access a variety of enriching experiences from Nursery through to Year 6.

Alongside our curriculum offer and the opportunities in day-to-day lessons, we also offer special events, day trips, visitors and family events.

Why not take a look at some of the things on offer here at Bank Leaze:

Forest School

We are so lucky to be surrounded by such an amazing site full of opportunities to learn and play in the outdoors. In fortnightly sessions, children have an Outdoor Learning lesson where they practice team work and explore their surroundings. Children also have the opportunity to access Forest School with a Forest-School trained member of staff.

Woodland Walk

SwimmingIn the summer term, we have our own pop-up swimming pool in the playground. All children in Y1-6 have a week of swimming lessons and Y2 and Y5 have three weeks of intensive lessons. This helps us to support pupils to achieve the goal of being able to swim 25 metres unaided by the end of Year 6.

Opal Play

Oasis Academy Bank Leaze uses the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) programme to ensure that every child in our school has amazing high-quality play opportunities every day and we are working towards our first OPAL accreditation.

We are committed to providing quality play for children and we believe play provision should be welcoming and accessible to every child. This means that during lunchtime, children have a full 45 minutes dedicated to play and there is complete equality of offer in everything they access. All children can explore all of our outdoor environment where we have a range of zones offering sports in the muga, dressing up, mud kitchen, digging area, large loose parts, small world, climbing, a stage, and arts and crafts activities, with resources to build and open spaces to play games.

Children access this provision in all weathers; therefore it is vital that every child has a pair of wellies and a waterproof coat in school everyday and that these are clearly labelled with the children’s names.

To understand more about OPAL visit their website: https://outdoorplayandlearning.org.uk/ or read our PLAY POLICY to know how it works at our school.

Street Scheme To reduce traffic danger and congestion in the area, Bristol City Council is turning Corbet Close into a walking, cycling, wheeling and scooting-only zone at school start and finish times. Vehicles will not be permitted to enter the zone for 40 minutes in the morning between 8:25am and 9:05am and 45 minutes in the afternoon between 2:45pm and 3:30pm.

Emergency vehicles, Blue Badge holders and residents affected by the closure will be exempt from the road closure.
