Forest School
The Best Kind of Classroom
This is the best kind of classroom
It’s a journey through time and space
From the smallest seed to the largest tree
This is a forest and a learning place;
This is the best kind of classroom
Where the seasons don’t happen in books
Where the learning is watching and thinking and talking
And everyone notices, everyone looks

Forest school at Bank Leaze
We are incredibly fortunate to have fields and woodland right on our doorstep. Thanks to Avon Riding Centre (who very kindly let us use their woodland), all children benefit from Forest School sessions led by a qualified forest school instructor at various times throughout their education.
Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers all our learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in the woodland.
We like to make use of the outdoor environment that surrounds us to access new learning opportunities. Amongst many new experiences, the children are able to build and cook on fires, work with tools and natural materials and explore the woodland.
Children learn to assess, appreciate and take risks, making sensible, informed decisions about how to tackle the activities and experiences they encounter. They learn to appreciate and enjoy the natural world, discover new environments that inspire creativity and most importantly, they have fun!
